Hello, my name is Joaquín. This blog is a little project of mine that I decided to take on during my free time. I have always had a passion for helping others but never knew how to do the most good for the most people. At first, I dreamed of becoming an engineer and building robotics to make a positive impact on the world. Later on, I aspired to be a computer scientist, hoping to use the digital realm for social good. Ultimately, I realized my true passion lies in public service and the community I come from. I developed a strong desire to learn about policy and government, recognizing how significantly they influence the amount of good that can be achieved in the world.
I am currently a student at Washington and Lee University, majoring in Political Science and Sociology and minoring in Education Policy, all in the hopes of someday making a meaningful difference. Currently, I am studying abroad in Oaxaca, Mexico, as part of the SIT Mexico: Migration, Borders, and Transnational Communities program. This experience has provided me with valuable insights into the complexities of migration and the challenges that migrants face.
This blog and the creation of this website are in some form a way of keeping alive those early dreams of being an engineer and computer scientist while pursuing my commitment to public service. I hope this project becomes a way to express my gratitude for the support and inspiration I have received from my mentors and peers. Their guidance has been invaluable, and I hope to pay it forward by sharing my journey and insights in this blog.
I look forward to keeping you updated on my professional and personal journey as I navigate new chapters in my life.
