U.S. House of Representatives
This past summer I spent my time in Washington, D.C. interning for Congressman Adriano Espaillat. Congressman Espaillat is the first formerly undocumented Dominican in Congress, representing New York’s 13th district, the smallest and most densely populated congressional district. Key priorities for the Congressman during the summer included the Holcomb Rucker Park Act, the Americas Act, and securing funding for the Second Avenue Subway in East Harlem.
In this role, I gained valuable insights into the legislative process and the workings of government. I assisted in research and policy analysis, helping to draft reports and prepare materials for congressional briefings. This experience honed my skills in effective communication and reinforced my commitment to public service as I engaged with constituents and learned the importance of representation and advocacy in shaping policies that impact our communities.
